Portrait of Robert Hooke

Micrographia: Portrait of Robert Hooke was produced for the exhibition in Royal Society in London to commemorate the tercentenary of his death. I wanted to depict Hooke’s widely ranging interests, microscopic views and also cosmological ideas in two large squares. Figures are based on shadows of the statue of Newton in Trinity College. I started collecting alphabets and corresponding parts of the instruments he designed. Two letters are missing, j and u. I filled them with red and blue rays and yellow ‘gravel’.
